Orchard Births professionals come from all backgrounds, training, and experiences to help you through those circumstances. The following is a list of specialized services we offer to help inform and nurture you through your journey.
Fertility Journeys - Whether you are working on having your first or subsequent child, we can encourage you through the ups and downs, appointments, and uncharted territory that is fertility. We can help connect you with resources and community support,
Pregnancy Loss - Besides several of our professionals having personal experience in the loss of a child, we have also been privileged to assist parents in this tender journey. The loss of a child at any stage in pregnancy can be difficult and filled with questions. We can help you discuss options and interventions, make plans to remember and celebrate your baby, care for you after the loss, and connect with those who have experienced loss.
Cesarean Planning - The options available today in surgical birth are not what they once were. Whether you are looking to established a more birth like atmosphere in the operating room or hoping for skin to skin with your baby immediately after birth, let us help you maneuver the options and plan for your baby's birth day, as well as provide tips on healing, breastfeeding, and postpartum care after a cesarean.
Perinatal Mood Disorders - It is estimated that up to 15% of women experience some degree of mood disorders during or after pregnancy. These can include symptoms of anxiety, depression, obsessive tendencies, post-traumatic stress disorder, psychosis, or effects of birth trauma. We will work alongside you and your family, providers, and professionals to provide practical and emotional support, referrals, and care during this time.
Tongue and Lip Tie Support - A common occurrence in babies these days is the need for specialized breastfeeding support due to a suspected tongue and/or lip tie. In addition to addressing the issue in our Breastfeeding Consultation, we can also support parents through the frenotomy (often referred to as "revision") process and additional support appointments. We can assess and inform about the different types of procedures, provide referrals to local providers and professionals, assist with pre and post surgical breastfeeding needs, attend appointments, and work as a team to make breastfeeding successful.
Postpartum Planning - In many cultures, postpartum is a time where care for the mother is highly valued and elevated. This helps the woman's body heal from pregnancy and birth, establish a strong bond with her baby, navigate the first few days and weeks of breastfeeding, and lower her risk of developing a mood disorder or post birth complication. We can help establish a practical and supportive plan between family, friends, providers, and professionals that will allow for this time to take place.
Vaginal Birth After Cesarean (VBAC) - One third of all births in Texas are by cesarean. Many times, women who have had a cesarean want to avoid a subsequent birth by cesarean for a multitude of reasons. Whether you have decided or just want to explore the option, our professionals can assist you in exploring the research and resources available, connect you with local providers and professionals who support VBAC, and nurture and support you through the journey of VBAC.
